Moses
Moses, who rescued the Jews from slavery by leading them out of Egypt, is holding the stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were written. The horns on his head appeared due to a translator’s error in the Latin Vulgate version of the Bible. There were attempts to correct this error in sculpture in the late 18th century, by depicting the horns as rays of light rising above the prophet’s head.
