St Peter Christens a Soldier in Prison, a large canvas painted by Franciszek Smuglewicz in 1802, hangs by the main entrance at the end of the right aisle. Although this scene of one of Jesus’ disciples preaching God’s mercy and a soldier who experienced the Grace of Conversion is not mentioned in the Holy Scriptures, it is well known in the Christian tradition.
